    • IREM Houston Announces Literacy Program

We're excited to partner with Yellowstone Academy for our Summer 2016 Community Involvement Initiative. Yellowstone Academy’s mission is to provide a high quality faith-based education exclusively to students from economically disadvantaged families that will prepare them for academic success in high school, college, and beyond. For more information on this incredible institution, watch their video here or visit their website www.yellowstoneacademy.org

Leaders within Yellowstone Academy are working to fill their new library with literary classics and must-haves for their school-aged children. IREM Members are invited to drop off any of these books at our Summer Happy Hour (July 21) or at the IREM office prior to August 1. You may also have books shipped to the IREM office at 5851 San Felipe, Suite 235 Houston, TX 77057. Office hours are 8 am - 4 pm. For the full list of needed books, click here. You can download a flyer for the fundraiser here to share with others. Please note that we hope to give the kids new books instead of used ones.

Additionally, the committee hopes to raise monetary funds to donate to Yellowstone Academy in support of their efforts to update their hallways, classroom resources, play area, and other aspects of the school to ensure the students have all that is needed to receive a well rounded education. To make a monetary contribution, please click here and use "Yellowstone" in invoice field or contact the IREM Office by email.

    • Community Involvement Has Spring Party at Lyerly House

For many years, the IREM Community Involvement Committee has enjoyed hosting a party for the residents of Lyerly House in Houston. Lyerly is a five-story mid-rise building in north Houston dedicated to the special needs of senior residents and persons with disabilities. With a tranquil environment and a variety of activities offered, this community provides safe, quality housing in a surrounding ideally suited yet enjoyable for residents.

This year, our Community Involvement Team led by Chair Sheryl Green, joined 75 Lyerly residents for an afternoon of Bingo, prizes, snacks and good times! Thank you to our wonderful team and thank you to the staff at Lyerly House for letting us engage and entertain some wonderful people.
